Location: 420 S. Union Drive, Los Angeles
Description: 21 affordable housing apartments
Funding: 9% Tax Credits, LAHD, CRA, LADWP
Status: Construction completed

The design takes the traditional courtyard apartment typology and moves the courtyard to the front edge to allow for greater communication between the building residents and the community. The main vertical circulation stair and elevator are open and visible from the street and courtyard. The courtyard has an opening at the rear yard creating air circulation, and providing stunning views past neighboring buildings to the downtown skyline.
