| Newhall Mixed-Use Client: Meta Housing Corporation Location: 24200 Main Street, Newhall, CA Description: 140 apts and 22,000 sq. ft. retail, 70du/acre Funding: 4% Tax -Exempt Bond, City of Newhall Status: unbuilt Located one block south of the Main Street business district and the Metro Link commuter train station, this mixed-use development proposes a public/private partnership to develop the City-controlled two-acre property. The City’s land value is maximized by creating a shared parking structure beneath a mixed-use development to include 140 residential units and 22,000 sq. ft. of community-serving retail. The design responds to the master plan by crafting a townscape of varying architectural styles to reduce the visual scale of the proposed development. Configured around a courtyard with ground level retail along Main Street, the mixed-use development extends the business district to the south. Ultimately, the proposed development will act as a link between Main Street and regional transit. |
