The design of this 120 unit affordable senior rental apartment building takes cues from its location on Hollywood Blvd. A colorfully finished tower with faceted glazing, marks the street corner and is a beacon for the retail and residential tenants. The retail storefront glazing continues the faceted form along the sidewalk. The façade of the four stories of apartments is scaled to the urban fabric along Hollywood and scales down toward the residential neighborhood to the North. There is a street level terrace on Garfield Place to sit and chat with passersby. When completed, the project will provide a vibrant home to about 180 senior citizens. It will also enhance the image, livability and economic vitality of the community by eliminating a blighted site. 5555 Hollywood is slated to achieve LEED Silver Certification.
